As I was taking down the holiday decorations after Christmas, I found myself looking around at all the ‘stuff’ cluttering the tables and spilling out onto the floor. I despise that anxious feeling I get when my surroundings are chaotic, so I hurried to put everything away.

Since my brain was in ‘clean-up’ mode, I kept the momentum going. I did some further organizing of our home such as going through closets and getting rid of any unwanted material possessions. I was getting a lot accomplished, that is, until I got to my studio.

I had good intentions going in, but I found that as I looked around, I just wanted to play. It was late in the afternoon–not much time left in the day, but I wanted to create something. That’s when I eyed my new 5 inch square canvases, and the idea for a series of fruit paintings was born.

This was a fun series to create–and a bit challenging as well. While there are a lot more fruits I could paint, I think I’ll stop at three for now.

What is your favorite fruit?
